The New Lloyd Dobler and Ferris Bueller

Jesse Eisenberg first hit my radar screen when he starred in 'The Squid and the Whale' in 2005. A fresh-faced, innocent yet wise beyond his years. This role was followed up with his starring role in 'Adventureland' and subsequently 'Zombieland'. Showing audiences his comedic and gun-toting skills. Of course in 2010, he led the cast of 'The Social Network' which has been both critically-acclaimed and a box office hit.

It has been said that Jesse Eisenberg looks similar to Canada's own Michael Cera. Their careers do seem to follow a parallel path - Michael also a childstar and making a name for himself in smaller, quirky roles such as 2007's 'Juno' and 'Superbad' and 2010's 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World'. Michael when he appeared on Conan O'Brien mentioned that he had recently been mistaken for Jesse when fans told him they really liked him in 'Zombieland'.

I'm hoping that one day they will share the screen, quirky brothers from another mother. These two young actors remind me of two other young men who graced the screens in the 1980's and embodied the roles they played, John Cusack as Lloyd Dobler and Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller. Iconic characters at the time and, for my generation, always will be.

I can just see it now, Michael holding a radio over his head, standing in the rain and Jesse by his side singing 'Danke Schon' (or vice versa) - classic!
